Well you better get comfortable with that idea.
**DISCLAIMER – there is the option to just have an extra home page on your site filled with snippets on information. Anything so that the landing page is NOT the only page on the site - Google will Kill ya! I would suggest a home page vs. a blog if you have followed this process JUST to sell an affiliate product or small report. If you are using this email marketing course to enhance a site that already exists or creating a site you hope to develop into something more serious… a blog should be in your immediate MASTER PLAN.
Blogging, along with all other social networking, has become the greatest way to create a website. If you are new to this whole making money on the web thing, I can undertsand your confusion for what a blog has to do with it.
I would like to say it is enough to just trust us, but here are some reasons why a blog is essential:
1. Content is king. The rules of the web have changed. Now a site that provides content trumps over sites that are much larger in size, but are filled with links to other sites. The nature of the blog is that it is all content – whatever you provide. Since a Blog is mostly in the style of freshly written material, dont PANIC If you selected a topic you know nothing about – there are no limit of places to get Public Label Rights content (content that others write and you can edit as your own) or sites where you can hire help. I know we covered this is a prior message. I think I will create a resource file so you can continue to refer back to services/products that will benefit your growth in this field.
2. Google loves blogs! Sites with a blog will get indexed much faster on Google. Enough Said. If your site is just a landing page with nothing backing it up (aka content), you will have to work that much harder. There is also ‘prestige’ attached to running a blog. It means that it is run by a person who thinks
3. No need for design – there are many nice looking free blog templates, eliminating the need to hire fancy graphic and web
designers to create a site for you. Yet, you are limited by nothing, since you can still add regular web pages and link to them from your blog and add most anything you would add to a regular website to your blog.
4. Working on your next product at your convenience. If your blog is about ‘getting more traffic to your website’, you can create content as you see fit, and eventually your blog could be compiled into what can be either part of a free product or something you can sell from another site (that you create) at a later date.
5. Traffic building at the same time. Each time you add a post to your blog, you can head over to an article submission site, and add your post as an article. Then other web publishers can take your article and add it to their site, linking back to you. This is a great free traffic builder. Join ALL the social sites like reditt, digg, technorati, and make sure you add the proper widgets to your site to allow people to give you credits for a post well written and add an RSS Feed to make sure people can subsribe to see what you write!
6. The blog can earn money. Though the purpose of the blog is to easily assist in creating a site with more content, adding pages, help support this single landing page, the blog on its own can generate traffic and make money through products promoted in posts, ads, etc.
7. No need for reciprocal linking! If you write some good content, other blogs in your field will link to you and this will boost your traffic and ranking more than ANY link can.
8. When we get to traffic and how you are going to get traffic to your site, we will mention the #1 reason why a blog is absolutely essential. Keep your eyes open for this important info.
The blog should rest on the same domain as your landing page, but you dont have to promote it on your landing page. As previously mentioned, the content in your blog can be used as your autoresponders.
Eventually your blog should be built up enough to be a site on it’s own merits.
Keep at it!
Until next time,
~~Andrea
