Today we are going to help you move forward with creating your
“Freebie” offer.
In order to generate interest, prove credibility and encourage
signups it is ESSENTIAL to offer a ‘freebie’. This is a basic lesson
in human psychology – if you offer people something for free they
will be more willing to share their personal information with you. If
your initial contact with a web visitor is trying for the sale you will
have to work a lot harder for it, and may lose out on an opportunity
to reel in someone who is skeptical. They say it takes 7-10
correspondences from you to them (your subscribers) before you
can gain their trust.
You can’t get visitors to subscribe unless you give them good
reasons to subscribe. If you were a budding novelist, and someone
offered you 10 free tips to getting your novel published, would you
hesitate to give them your name and email? This is what you need to provide.
Below is a list of possible freebies. I will expound on
each option following the list, but the one you select will really
depend on your style, how much you know about a topic and the
topic itself.
1) A free report
2) A free e-book (like a report but longer)
3) A free series of tips
4) A free e-course
5) A series of articles.
6) An MP3 (audio) of a recorded interview.
7) Whatever else you can think of!
1) A free report – A popular option, this is usually around 10 pages,
and since they are typically offered in the pdf format, these 10
pages translates into about 5 pages written in Microsoft Word
(.doc). This is a good option if you dont intend to create a
product, and are looking to focus mainly on affiliate products for your
niche. You just have to scramble these pages of content together.
Keep reading to find out where you can purchase affordable report content
that you can deliver to your visitors.
2) A free ebook – this can be something you wrote or something
else available on the web that you are able to give away as a bonus.
As the web is becoming more interactive, this is becoming less and
less popular. Even though there is still tremendous success in
selling ebooks, people are leaning more towards videos/audios. It is
hard to read a book on a computer, and who wants to spend all the
money on ink to print them out. However if you manage to find an
ebook that has already been created, your sign ups should still
convert at a good rate with this ‘freebie’ (unless the circulation for
this ebook has saturated your market).
Do you need a .pdf converter (convert word files to .pdf)? Let me know,
and I will get for you a list of Free PDF converting software!
3) A series of tips – probably the most widely used. We will get to
the autoresponders section later, but selecting this option will
allow you to kill 2 birds with one stone, since you are gaining
their trust with more correspondences with great content, while
ALSO offering the freebie. Following these tips it will be much easier
to sell them a product.
4) A free e-course – very similar to 3) but each email will probably be
longer and more detailed. There is often a specific sequence to the
topics that the readers can follow step by step. Like the e-course
you are reading now!
5) A series of articles or Public Label Articles. For articles, you sign up at one of the MANY
article sites on the web. They are free. You collect a series of
articles on your topic and offer them in the form of tips, etc. This is a
last choice option, for the obvious reasons that the content is not
original, and you have to link back to the article writer, and perhaps
your visitors will click on their link and get confused. In addition, the
information is already on the web. True the chances that they will
have already read this article is small, but it exists.
The much better alternative is to purchase articles that you can put your OWN name on..
These are called Private Label Articles. This is a great option if you find someone
who can offer you some good content about your particular niche topic.
Check out these sites for great, inexpensive content for your target market:
First – this is NEW, HOT and the best deal I have seen in ages. Anyone who sits down in front of their computer to try to accomplish and see how long it actually takes them, will no doubt appreciate these resources.
My new personal Fave offers you Text + Audio Articles in your name for tons of Niches. Audio is becoming the way to go – wouldnt you rather listen to something than read it??
Here is over 1700 articles you can put YOUR name on:
Here is a list of 106 niche products (more than just articles) – see if any match
your needs!
Looking for some great content on a series of niches? Check out these packages – best
is that there is limited availability.
6) An Mp3 is a great option for someone who does not like to write
or is not too knowledgable about the subject. In this case, you find a
pro on the subject and record an interview with you asking a series of questions on the
particular topic.
This could the also be a series where the next set of
questions is something you would be able to charge for… assuming
they liked what they heard first time around.
For example: you find an ADD specialist, and your visitors will be
receiving a free MP3 on how to detect if your child is suffering from
ADD/ADHD. Once you hook the visitor, when you move on to sell
the follow up interview – ‘Ways to Beat ADD without Meds’ it will be
much easier to sell to your list. The best part is that you created the
product all at one time, and for the same price, but it continues to
create more opportunities for you to make money.
You can also charge for or offer free live teleseminars where people
are told to call in at a prescribed time. This can be a monthly
program. Most companies will record the call for you and you just
have to download the file. They may also offer a transcript of
the recording, in addition to an actual CD, and then you can sell
the physical products for more, in addition to the downloadable
MP3.
Wanna record an interview or conduct a teleseminar? Try this company:
They offer reliable recording, production, sales, and administration
for conducting teleseminars -
7) Whatever else you can think of! How about recording how to do
something on the computer with Camtasia? How about a list of the
best _______ for ________? Great recipes for people with _____
or who like _____ ? There is no limit to the possibilities.
It is wise to add to your freebies affiliate links to related products
and of course to your own web site. That way your “freebie” can
actually make you money and will bring people back to your site.
And if your freebie is really good and people pass it around (with or
without permission) then you will get even more visitors to your site
and more clicks on your affiliate links.
We should briefly mention outsourcing here. Outsourcing is a
fantastic way to purchase a product / service and retain 100 %
rights. If you would like to write an ebook about caring for your
newborn, or have help using more fire in your sales page, you can
easily hire a freelancer from one of a few well respected sites and
pay a very reasonable rate for the work. Either provide them with
the information they need or see if they can do the research
themselves. Each programmer / writer has feedback, and when
they bid on your project, you should carefully read their feedback
before making your choice.
You do need to be careful when outsourcing, but most of these
projects are in the lower pay scale. If you are asking for someone to
do writing, then ask for a writing sample. Imagine paying someone
$500 for an 80 page ebook on the ‘A to Z on mortgage lending’,
owning the rights to this product 100%, and then selling the book for
$47 for years to come. You can also have others sell this product for
you, offering them 50% commision. (We will discuss that in a later
email.)
